Sift the matcha if it is clumped, then whisk it with the hot water until no dry pockets remain and a light foam forms. Let it cool briefly before pouring it slowly over the back of a spoon onto the iced lemonade.
A trendy, antioxidant-rich non-alcoholic drink that layers vibrant ceremonial matcha over refreshing lemonade. Earthy meets bright.

Matcha Lemonade pairs earthy, slightly bitter tea with bright citrus and sugar. The visual layer is temporary—the drink is meant to be stirred—but whisking the matcha properly first keeps the finished lemonade smooth instead of powdery.

Use a clear tall glass if you want to show the green layer, and provide a straw or spoon for mixing before the first sip. A thin lemon wheel is enough garnish and will not compete with the matcha aroma.
Boiling water can make matcha taste harsher, and matcha poured straight onto ice may seize into small clumps. Lemonade is usually sweetened already, so taste it before committing to the full ounce of additional syrup.
For a drier drink, omit half or all of the simple syrup depending on the lemonade. For a longer sparkling version, add two ounces of chilled soda water after the matcha and stir gently before serving.
These notes explain how to execute and adapt the recipe shown above. Ingredients and serving traditions vary, so taste and adjust thoughtfully.
