Sazerac
The Sazerac is a local variation of a cognac or whiskey cocktail, named for the Sazerac de Forge et Fils brand of cognac that was its original main ingredient.

Ingredients
- 2 fl oz. rye whiskey
- 1 sugar cube sugar
- 3 dashes Peychaud's bitters
- 1 rinse absinthe
Directions
- 1Rinse a chilled old-fashioned glass with absinthe, discard excess.
- 2In a mixing glass, muddle sugar cube with bitters.
- 3Add rye whiskey and ice, stir until chilled.
- 4Strain into the prepared glass.
- 5Garnish with lemon peel.
